Eagle Beach: where to sit, swim, and watch the sunset

Ask ten well-travelled people to name the best beach they have ever seen and a surprising number will say Eagle Beach. It is a ten-minute drive from the villa, which means you can go twice in a day. Here is how to make the most of it.

Why Eagle Beach is special

Consistently ranked among the world’s best, Eagle Beach is wide, white and blissfully low-rise. There are no towering hotels crowding the sand — just space, calm turquoise water, and the famous fofoti trees leaning out toward the sea. It is postcard Aruba, and it lives up to it.

Where to sit

The stretch in front of the low-rise beach bars has easy parking and shade; walk a few minutes in either direction and you’ll usually find a quiet patch to yourself. Palapas and loungers can be rented, but honestly a towel and an umbrella are all you really need.

When to go

Mornings are calm and cool — perfect for a swim before the day heats up. Late afternoon is for the sunset: arrive by six, bring a drink, and watch the sky turn pink over the water. It is the kind of evening you plan the rest of the trip around.

Good to know

Bring reef-safe sunscreen, plenty of water, and a little cash for the beach bars. There are restrooms and food nearby, so you can happily stay all day. And because it is so close to the villa, popping back for lunch or a nap is easy.
